SLAVERY...
The majority of citizens of the United States of America will think slavery is the number one role in the American Civil War, and yes indeed it was. Slavery was a key that Abraham Lincoln, the 16th President of the United States was trying to abolish from square one. He spoke out against slavery after he won the election, tricking Southerners into thinking he was for slavery. Slavery was huge in the South, where many plantations were located.

STATES' RIGHTS...
The South felt they needed better rights for the Southern states. The first to drop out of the Union was South Carolina on December 20th, 1860. Soon after the other states will follow, read the list below for the time and date.
